All that work up in smoke. Frustrating isn't it?
Out of curiosity went looking for other quotes, found these.
"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere."
— George Washington 1794
"Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country."
— Thomas Jefferson
"Why use up the forests which were centuries in the making and the mines which required ages to lay down, if we can get the equivalent of forest and mineral products in the annual growth of the hemp fields?"
— Henry Ford
"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the [cannabis] prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this [prohibition]."
— Albert Einstein (My First Impression of the U.S.A., 1921)
Henry Ford was also a promoter of Soy products, and at one party served all soy dishes and wore a suit made of fiber from soy plastics.
The prototype diesel engine by the inventor ran on hemp oil from what I understand. I remember visiting Columbus in the early 60's. Transit buses ran from a boom running to overhead power lines. Had solid rubber tires which lasted years. Bad for the economy, which wanted us to consume fossil fuels and replace tires on a regular basis.
